This sculpture depicts a moment of familial intimacy. The mother and father lean against one another, the mother cradling her infant against her breast, while their son shyly peeks out from behind the shelter of his parents, holding his mother’s leg and standing on the foot of his father. The belly of the mother is large with their unborn child, and both parents rest their hands on her stomach. Weygers created this touching sculpture as an expression of his own yearning for familial closeness. This was the first piece to be completed in Mr. Weygers‘ permanent homestead and an artistic haven in Carmel Valley, CA, the where thousands of students would learn Mr. Weygers skills and techniques over next the 40 years.
